MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS
Unsu Kai Karate students are trained and coached by Sensei Stephen Farrell and Shihan Kayne M. Dewhurst. Our team is qualified, energetic, enthusiastic and second to none. We are devoted to helping you get the most out of karate.
Sensei Stephen is a dedicated practitioner of karate and has been teaching with Unsu Kai since 2014.
Stephen has won many school, inter-school and circuit competitions, across both sparring and kata, including in 2017 when he won both the OSMAT Nationals - Open age Blackbelt Male Points Sparring and Continuous Sparring divisions. Stephen currently holds the rank of 2nd Dan black belt.
Stephen is also a University qualified financial planner in his other life. He has his first aid certificate and is passionate about helping students achieve their best, regardless of age or previous experience.

Kayne M. Dewhurst is the founder of the Unsu Kai Karate style and has over 20 years of martial arts experience.
He has taught karate classes for 100’s of individual Australians. Kayne has also been involved in teaching school programs for students at primary and secondary levels as well as several self defense courses for private organizations.
In 2001, Kayne became the IFKF Under 18’s Open Division full contact champion of Australia. Since beginning competition in 2000 Kayne has achieved over 100 placings in different martial arts tournaments, including state, national and world levels.
Kayne has also trained over 80 national champions and a handful of world champions. Kayne currently holds the rank of 6th Dan black belt.
He has a first aid certificate and is also a qualified trainer. Kayne is a full time
martial arts instructor, who is devoted to helping you achieve your black belt.
Our brightest and best who have taken a roll in our Leadership Program are trained and mentored into the responsibilities of assistant teaching. These students are given the opportunity to develop their own leadership and teaching skills under a supervised and controlled environment.
